The Golden Rule: NEVER Wait for the Last Date!

Apply immediately as soon as the notification link is active. On the last 2-3 days, official government servers experience massive heavy traffic, leading to 90% of UPI and payment failures. If your payment gets stuck on the last day, you will not have the 48 hours required for it to settle, and your form will be permanently rejected. Do not miss out on a massive career opportunity just because you waited for the deadline!

Resolving Payment Issues

1. Amount Deducted, but Status is “Pending” or “Failed”

This is the most common issue students face due to bank server timeouts or UPI gateway delays. Here is what you must do:

  • Do Not Panic: If money has left your account, there is a digital record of it.
  • Wait for 24 to 48 Hours: Official payment gateways (like SBI ePay used by SSC/UPSC) take 1 to 2 working days to reconcile failed transactions. Check your application status again after 48 hours.
  • Auto-Refund: If the payment is completely failed at the merchant’s end, the amount is automatically refunded to your original bank account within 3 to 7 working days.

2. When to Make a “Double Payment”?

Sometimes, waiting is not an option. If the last date to submit the application is tomorrow and your first payment of ₹100 or ₹200 is stuck, make a second payment immediately.

Leaving your application form “Incomplete” to save ₹100 is a massive mistake. Your career is worth much more. The recruitment boards usually have an automated system: if two payments are received for the same registration number, the extra amount is automatically refunded to your bank account later.

3. Best Practices to Avoid Payment Failure

  • Avoid Late Nights & Last Days: Bank servers usually undergo maintenance between 11:30 PM and 1:30 AM. Avoid making payments during this window.
  • Use Reliable Methods: While UPI is easy, Debit Cards and Net Banking tend to have a higher success rate on outdated government payment gateways.
  • Do Not Refresh/Back: Once you enter your PIN and the page is loading, NEVER press the ‘Back’ button or refresh the page, even if it takes 2 minutes to load.
